Membership at Jojoba Hills
Q. Are there restrictions on who can become a member at Jojoba Hills?
Jojoba Hills provides a home base for active adult (55+) RVers and is not to be considered a year-round residence. As such, those seeking membership are required to have a licensed and functioning RV that is less than twenty (20) years old. Members must also be capable and willing to contribute their talents and labor in maintaining our resort cooperative.
Q. What is the first step to becoming a member at Jojoba Hills?
To begin the process, you will need to contact the Resort and arrange a tour with one of our experienced guides. We require the tour in order to provide a comprehensive view of our resort. This offers an opportunity to meet some of the members and to see our volunteer, sports and creative activities. Volunteering provides a place to meet new people, form friendships, and enjoy the good feeling of community. Please remember to bring in your RV registration, Escapees membership card and photo ID.
To get on the waiting list, we require a deposit of $1,000 plus a non-refundable administrative processing fee of $100. The deposit is applied against the cost of your membership and is fully refundable should you withdraw your name from the list.

Volunteering at Jojoba Hills
Q. Do I have to volunteer?
When you become a Member of Jojoba Hills you sign an agreement to abide by the rules and bylaws. In the bylaws it states, “It is intended that all Members shall share their experience and knowledge for the benefit of the Resort, and that all Members who are able to do so shall contribute labor, time and skills toward the betterment of the Resort”.
Q. Do I have to work every day?
Definitely Not. When it comes to volunteering Members find their own balance. Most ongoing jobs only require an hour or so, once or twice a week. When needs arise, a notice may be posted on our internal cable channel asking for help. Generally, the response to such a call is overwhelming.
Q. How do I participate when I’m traveling?
You are not expected to volunteer when away from the resort. However, some Members have found ways to participate even while traveling.
Q. Do I have to give up my membership if I am not willing to work?
If you are unable to participate in the upkeep of Jojoba Hills, this may not be the place for you. This is a private resort managed and run by and for the Members. Without the energetic participation of our Members, a much larger and more costly employee staff would be required. In general, Members volunteer in areas they enjoy. It is seen as a wonderful opportunity to interact with each other while taking pride in our wonderful resort. Erma Bombeck may have expressed it best: “Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain loving one another.”
