Tour of the Clubhouse Complex
![]()
The
center of activity for Jojoba Hills SKP Resort is the Clubhouse
area. The complex is built in the mission style with stucco finish
and partially beamed outdoor walkways. It consists of approximately
18,000 square feet under roof in the main buiilding and the annex.
In
the patio area is the open air swimming pool (30 x 65 feet with a
depth of 3-1/2 to 5 feet). The pool is heated and an automatic pool
cover helps maintain the water temperature throughout the year. A
lift is provided for helping the handicapped enter and leave the pool.
There
are two spas, one sheltered under the roof and one on the open deck,
maintained year-round. The area around the pool has patio tables,
chairs and lounges. Some portions are covered, others are exposed to
the sun.
The
resort has a large outdoor grill under the covered patio for the
preparation of meals during mild weather. This area has been home to
some great picnics. The view from the patio looking across the valley
to the mountains adds to the enjoyment of the picnic atmosphere.
On
a level just below the clubhouse complex is a tennis court and four
covered tournament quality shuffleboard courts. Tennis lessons, both
beginning and advanced are often scheduled during the winter months.
The
horseshoe pits are across the road from the Clubhouse. They
regularly draw a boisterous crowd of pitchers practicing their art.
The pitchers often challenge people walking by on the road to come in
and join them.
The
nine hole miniature golf course is just up June River from the
horseshoe pits. It has some pretty difficult holes to make. This is a
favorite of the grandchildren that visit from time to time. Golf
putters and golf balls are available.
Also
directly across from the clubhouse is the CyberCenter, home of JHUG
(Jojoba Hills Computer Users Group). It is wheelchair accessible.
Here you will find computers and peripheral equipment on which to
practice your computer arts. There is also a GTE telephone line that
can be used for accessing the Internet. Visitors have access to an
external telephone connection while they are here to keep in touch
with back home.
Nestled around the Clubhouse is a garden of roses, succulents, and cacti, carefully tended by volunteer members of the resort. These add much to the beauty of the surroundings of the Clubhouse.
